Andhra Pradesh to Get Third Major Port (India)

 

The Union government has reportedly identified three locations for setting up another Major Port in Andhra Pradesh, the state Minister for Ports and Infrastructure, Mr G. Srinivasa Rao, said.

He said Nakkapalli mandal in the district, Ramayapatnam in Prakasam district and another place in Nellore district were being considered for setting up the port.

Mr. Rao also said the proposed port would be the third in Visakhapatnam district, in addition to the already existing facilities in Visakhapatnam and Gangavaram.

The State Government would take steps to develop Kalingapatnam and Bhavanapadu as well and some companies such as Nuzvidu Seeds, Gangaram Port and Essar had evinced interest in taking up the projects. Bids will be invited for the projects.
