Port of Los Angeles Hosts China's Vice President

Governor Jerry Brown, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Port of Los Angeles officials welcomed Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping and his delegation to the Port on Thursday, February 16.

The visit to China Shipping at the Port is part of a growing relationship between China, Los Angeles and Port officials in an effort to create jobs, strengthen economies and expand cultural exchange between Los Angeles and China.

Delegation also visited the China Shipping terminal, which is undergoing a $121 million expansion that will more than double its space at the port to 142 acres.

In 2011, total trade between China and the Port of L.A. was valued at more than $133 billion.
