Port of Pascagoula, Army Corps Ink USD 5.5 Million Agreement

An agreement has been signed between the Port of Pascagoula and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for initiating a project at the triple barrel dredging material disposal site.

This Project Partnership Agreement states that the port and Corps will share the cost of construction worth $5.5 million. The port will secure $977,000 and the Corps will use $4.5 million in post-Hurricane Katrina Flood Control and Coastal Emergency money for funding its share.

The objective of the project is to advance the site’s dikes and remove material, thus extend its life by 20 years.

A construction contract is expected to be awarded by April and the construction will last 15 months.
