India: VPT Chairman Pushes for PPP Dredging Projects

Mr. G.V.L. Satya Kumar, Deputy Chairman of Visakhapatnam Port Trust, strongly believes that it is necessary to look into the possibility of adopting more dredging projects in the public-private partnership mode (PPP), reports Business Line.

Upon inaugurating an orientation program on public-private partnership projects in ports organized by the Union Ministry of Shipping and hosted by the Visakhapatnam Port Trust, he stressed the need to make the PPP processes more efficient so that in the outcome projects could be awarded early thus ports would be more successful in expanding their capacities.

Mr. Anuj Agarwal, PPP expert, presented summary of the PPP projects in the port sector and Mr. L. Rajhotam, Director (Tariff Authority for Major Ports), introduced a paper on the organization’s role in fixing the tariff in major ports.
