Nigeria: Osun State Government Invests Big in Dredging

The Special Adviser to Governor Rauf Aregbesola on Environment, Bola Ilori, stressed that the Osun state government last year spent approximately N500 million on dredging about 53 kilometers of waterways in several parts of the state.

He has also disclosed that the stretch of the three streams would be completed within the next few weeks.

“The dredging and channelization of some major waterways in the state last year largely responsible for the reason the state did not witness any major disaster,” added Ilori, and also advised the people of the state to stop dumping of refuse along water channels to avoid blockage of the waterways.
