The sand pumping operations got underway yesterday on a section of Miami Beach.

During the beach restoration project, sand will be removed from areas between 10th and 18th Streets and, using an underground pipeline, be deposited on the highly eroded sections between 27th and 44th Streets, according to cbslocal.com.

Great Lakes Dredge and Dock, which prepared and set up the operation, said pumping will occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

The work, which is Phase 2 of the Miami-Dade County Shore Protection project, is expected to be completed by early November.
