Sand Key Beach Gets New Sand (USA)

According to the Clearwater Patch, the Sand Key Dredge Project is underway.

While work started a little later than scheduled, equipment and crews are in place for the $31.5 million project to fill 1.25 million cubic yards of sand from Sand Key to North Redington Beach.

The sand is being pumped from the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico 12 miles west of Sand Key. Work is expected to be complete by October.

During the project, active beach construction areas, about 1,000 feet, will be closed to the public.
