Nigeria: Government Arraigns 13 Persons over Illegal Dredging

According to The Nation, the Lagos State Government has arraigned 13 persons for alleged illegal sand dredging.

The violators were arrested by the monitoring team of the Lagos State Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure, in collaboration with the State Taskforce Environmental and Special Offences.

The monitoring team arrested Henry Akinwunmi, a worker at RHS Dredging Engineering Limited; Adeniyi Oni and Akeem Tijani of Goldbrooke Investment Nigeria Limited, and Mr. Osewa Gbenga of Ibile Holdings.

Others are: Jackson Ossai, Osagie Anthony, and Sunday Okonkwo, workers at Renecon Company Limited; Tayo Phillips, Friday Nicholas and Moses Amana, all of Vibrapac Dredging Services.

Jacob Tonyo, worker of Swan Dredging Company Limited; Adekiye Koko and Lawrence Teeh of Denka Dredging Services were arrested in Ibeju Lekki.
