Nigeria: Group Lauds Governor over Oyo Rivers Dredging

According to theeagleonline.com, Oyó Patriotic Front organization has commended Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State for the dredging projects within the Ibadan area.

The Chairman of the organisation, Chief Jare Adepoju, in a statement on Monday in Ibadan, said “without the dredging of the rivers, Ibadan, the state capital, would probably have witnessed another flood disaster reminiscent of the one that occurred on August 26, 2011.”

Adepoju said in the statement: “We want to commend Senator Abiola Ajimobi for running a responsible and responsive government. Only God knows what would have happened if the governor had not risen up and ensured that some of the rivers and streams that caused last year’s flood disaster were dredged.

“Governor Ajimobi’s prompt response is an indication of the seriousness he has attached to governance and the respect he has for the sanctity of human lives. This is the kind of government we had been yearning for in Oyo State.”
