Hong Kong Government Plans Dredging of Kwai Tsing Container Basin

Hong Kong Government intends to carry out dredging works within an area of about 428 hectares of sea-bed at Kwai Tsing Container Basin and portions of the Northern Fairway, Western Fairway and East Lamma Channel to a level of approximately 17.5 metres below Chart Datum.

The proposed works will enable unrestricted access for the new generation of ultra-large container ships to Kwai Tsing Container Terminals.

The works are scheduled to commence in late 2013 and be completed by 2016.
