Shipping Minister Visits NMPT

Exim India reports that the Shipping Minister, Mr G. K. Vasan, reviewed the performance and programmes of three west coast Major Ports during a recent visit to New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT).

During this visit, he stated: “For expediting the implementation of projects, in the Ministry we have decided to have proper framework for review of all the projects. Joint Secretary (Ports) will review these projects once in a fortnight and Secretary (Shipping) will review once in a month, and at my level once in a quarter, so that any issue which can impede the progress of the project can be sorted out at the appropriate time, thus ensuring that there is no delay in getting the approvals and commencement of the work.”

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of NMPT, Dr P. Tamilvanan; Chairman of Mormugao Port Trust, Mr P. Mara Pandiyan; Chairman of Cochin Port Trust, Mr Paul Antony; Shipping Secretary, Mr P. K. Sinha; Joint Secretary Shipping, Mr Muruganandam, and other senior officers.
