USA: Redondo Beach Project Moves Ahead

The Redondo Beach replenishment project is progressing very well, after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers started moving one million cubic yards of sand from the entrance channel of Marina del Rey.

This project, which will last about 40 days, calls first for depositing roughly 85,000 cubic yards of marina sediment into water depths of 30-50 feet near the Topaz Street jetty.

Dutra Dredging Company plans to deposit additional sand on the Redondo Beach and Dockweiler State Beach for future replenishment needs.

According to easyreadernews.com, around 520,000 cubic yards of sand from the Marina del Rey channel will be placed onto barges for transportation to the Port of Long Beach for its Middle Harbor Redevelopment Project.
