Savannah River Deepening Approved (USA)

According to a report made public yesterday, the commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has approved a $652 million dredging of the Savannah River shipping channel.

The final decision on the Savannah project is expected in November, reports cnbc.com.

Curtis Foltz, the Georgia Ports Authority Executive Director, said: “The entire project was expected to be finished by 2016.”

The plan includes removing of a 24 million cubic yards of sediment from the waterway.
