Great News for City of Carencro

Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., released the following statement after the City of Carencro and the United States Army Corps of Engineers recently partnered in moving forward with the ongoing feasibility study for the Beau Basin Coulee:

“Since I was first elected, officials with the city of Carencro have worked in conjunction with the Corps and my office to address the issue of flooding control in Carencro. This recent news marks a step forward toward completion of the Beau Basin Coulee project. Completion of the feasibility study is needed to evaluate alternatives to control flooding within the city. I’m very proud of the persistence and effort put forth by officials in Carencro to advance this project. Moving forward with this project has been a priority for all parties involved with the best interests and safety of the citizens in Carencro being the primary factor,” stated Boustany.

Mayor Glenn Brasseaux of Carencro added, “I’d like to thank Congressman Boustany and his dedicated staff for helping the city of Carencro in getting to this next stage with this important project. This project was started over twelve years ago by the Corps. Today, we finally signed the contract beginning the design stage which will then be followed by the actual construction of the improvements on the coulee. This will help address the drainage problems our community has been plagued with for decades.”

“The City of Carencro and the surrounding area has experienced several flooding events, most recently in March of this year,”stated Durund Elzey, Corps Senior Project Manager. “The Project Partnership Agreement is a major step forward in reducing the flooding risks to this community.”
