Australia: Dredging to Open Trinity Inlet to Mega Liners

If the Trinity Inlet dredging plan goes according to plan, the mega cruise ships will be able to dock at the Port of Cairns by the end of 2015.

“The environmental assessment process was expected to take two years and the dredging about eight months,” stated Ports North chairman Brett Moller.

The Ports North announced that this project should inject an estimated $436 million into the region’s economy, cairns.com reports.

“If we are on target, then towards the end of 2015 the first of the mega ships should be docking at the Port of Cairns,” Moller concluded.
