Lack of Dredging Kills Camden’s Commercial Navigation (USA)

The Ouachita River is facing hard times these days.

“A reduced lock operations and a lack of dredging on the upper Ouachita River has effectively killed commercial navigation in Arkansas,” stated Camden Mayor Chris Claybaker.

“I can’t sell the Ouachita River anymore. The river hasn’t been dredged in the upper Ouachita for four years,” added Claybaker.

The Army Corps officials stated that the current lock operation schedules will remain in place through at least 2013, thenewsstar.com reports.
