Tijuana River Dredging Plan Step Closer to Realization

After the Superior Court Judge Timothy Taylor ruled that the city could go forward and apply for permits, the city of San Diego is proceeding with the Tijuana River Valley dredging plans.

Mayor Jerry Sanders said: “Protecting lives and property in the Tijuana River Valley continues to be a top priority for me. We will keep fighting in court for our right to perform the dredging work essential to mitigate flooding in that area.”

Flooding at the Tijuana River Valley during 2008 killed livestock and forced emergency rescues of some citizens, reports utsandiego.com.

Dredging project, when approved, must be completed before February 13, when nesting season commences.
