Official Unveils Itaqui Port Develoment Plan (Brazil)

Daniel Vinent, the port’s Director of Planning and Development, introduced plans for the capital development project at the Itaqui port.

This program includes spending of $3.2 billion to overhaul the port operational infrastructure, according to thebulletinpanama.com.

The plan includes:

– refurbishing existing berths,

– building 16 new ones,

– dredging.

Vinent also stated that the expansion project will be completed in a series of stages over the next 20 years.

This major development program, when completed, will increase cargo handling capacity to 150Mt/y from the current 14Mt/y.
