Dredging Brings Larger Vessels to Port of Illichivsk

According to the port press service, on November 27, the Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk has handled the Super Post Panamax container ship Teno, for the first time this year.

The M/V Teno is the largest ship docked at the port in 2012.

The port’s chief Alexander Grigorashenko stated: “Today the tonnage of the leading container lines’ fleet has increased substantially. To handle regularly this class of ships we plan to implement an ambitious dredging program to deepen the operating water area and the approach channel to 17 meters. This is not just a requirement of the time, this is the urgent market need.”

Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk is a modern international highly mechanized multipurpose transport junction specialized in handling of general cargoes, dry and liquid bulk cargoes.
