Maldives Hosts Coastal Protection Guidelines Workshop

‘Integrating Climate Change Risks into Resilient Island Planning in the Maldives’ project implemented by Ministry of Environment and Energy in collaboration with UNDP Maldives is conducting a one day workshop on formulation of climate resilient coastal protection guidelines.

The workshop is held at Asaree Hall of SHE Building.

The purpose of this workshop is to share the work so far carried out by the project on formulation of climate resilient coastal protection guidelines by CLT Consult, with the line Ministries and stakeholders and discuss the issues of coastal developments including; harbour construction, dredging and reclamation, seawall and breakwater construction, beach replenishment and other coastal developments in order to formulate a set of practical guidelines and procedures that are acceptable to all the stakeholders and that can be followed in all coastal developments in the Maldives.

The workshop was inaugurated by the Minister of Environment and Energy Dr. Mariyam Shakeelaa.
