Officials Unveil Norfolk Dredging Plan

Department of the Navy has announced the details about the Norfolk Naval Station dredging program.

This work includes hydraulic dredging of mud and silt material along with incidental related work in accordance with the drawing and specification at Norfolk Naval Station, Norfolk, VA.

A hydraulic pump will be used to deposit the material directly into the North Containment Cell of Craney Island Dredge material Management Area, Portsmouth, VA and incidental related work.

Location of deposition within Craney Island Project Site is subject to change and should be coordinated with the Army Corps of Engineers before dredging begins.

The approximate solicitation release date is May 1, 2013.

The estimated cost range is between $5 mln and $10 mln.
