USA: Funding Approved for Anna Maria Island Beach Renourishment

Funding Approved for Anna Maria Island Beach Renourishment

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced this week that more than $9 million is budgeted for beach renourishment project on Anna Maria Island.

This new funding is just an addition to more than $6 million already set aside, reports bradenton.com.

Regarding this information, Charlie Hunsicker, the Manatee County natural resources director, stated: “I cannot understate how fortunate we are to receive approvals for over $15 million in federal spending this year for our beaches, given the delicate political and economic climate in Washington.

The mentioned renourishment project will commence at the city of Holmes Beach and resume south to Longboat Pass, Hunsicker added.
