JND Thomas Company Receives Important Recognition

Dennis Thomas owner of JND Thomas Company, Inc. of Riverdale received the Family Owned Business Award in Fresno on June 13, 2013. They were one of six Central California businesses honored for their business achievements at the Fourth Annual Small Business Recognition Program.

The University of California, Merced Small Business Development Center Regional Network (UCM-SBDC) brought together business and industry, governmental officials and community leaders to congratulate the winners for The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Small Business Week.

JND Thomas is an 8(a) GC specializing in the environmental and commercial restoration and remediation of water based projects through the use of dredging and dewatering equipment. The company began in 1982 as a service firm to the dairy industry.

They realized their unique approach to water clean-up which met the most stringent environmental standards could be adapted to any type of water remediation service required.

JND is an evolutionary company that could have easily been another casualty of the many service providers to the volatile dairy industry. Instead, they took their knowledge and resources and strategically diversified their customer base. Today they are bidding and receiving jobs both nationally and internationally.

“When many businesses often close in less than ten years, receiving the Family Owned Business Award with 31 years of existence combined with exceptional growth is well deserved,” said Diane Howerton, Regional Director for the UC Merced SBDC Network.
