Dredging Equipment Arrives

The China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation (CATIC) has delivered five cutter suction dredgers, two backhoe dredgers, four split hopper barges, a tug boat, a landing craft and six aid vessels to the Department of Water Resources and Improvement of River Systems of Myanmar, reports mmtimes.com.

According to U Tun Lwin Oo of the Department, they received 14 vessels on July 20 and the remaining five arrived in early August.

The Department will undertake river training exercises in Yangon, and then the actual dredging works in Mandalay and Magwe regions.

Then, the officials plan to do some dredging in Monywa township in Sagaing Region and Pyay township in Bago Region, Lwin Oo stated.

U Tun Lwin Oo stressed that many areas of the Myanmar’s river network are in a bad condition and they need to be dredged immediately.
