Port of Rotterdam Authority Presents Award to Erich Staake

Erich Staake, CEO of Duisport, has received a Boeganker. The Boeganker is an award presented by Port of Rotterdam Authority to persons who have played an exceptional part in the development of the port of Rotterdam.

Erich Staake received the Boeganker for his huge contribution to the development of the inland port of Duisburg and the Duisburg-Rotterdam relationship. Hans Smits presented the Boeganker on Monday evening when the Supervisory Board and the Executive Board of the Port of Rotterdam Authority visited Duisburg.

Duisport manages and develops the port of Duisburg, the largest inland port in the world. Every year over 70 million tonnes of cargo are is transported between the port of Rotterdam and North Rhine-Westphalia. Most of it goes via the port of Duisburg. The Duisburg-Rotterdam corridor is the fastest and most efficient transport artery in Europe, with the river Rhine playing a major role.
