MCM Marine to Dredge Escanaba Harbor

The Escanaba harbor dredging program is scheduled to commence this week, according to dailypress.net.

Regarding this cleanup venture, Jim O’Toole, the Escanaba City Council manager, stated: “Funds for this project have been made available through a grant from the Michigan DNR so there are no local costs.

During the project, the contractor, MCM Marine of Sault Ste. Marie, will remove around 14,000 cubic yards of sand from the harbor channel, reports dailypress.net.

The sand will be taken from four locations in the harbor area and placed on the municipal beach as beach enhancement,” added Larry Gravatt, the Harbor Master.

The main goal of this cleanup program, which should be wrapped up no later than Oct. 30, is improvement of boat traffic coming in and out from the Escanaba harbor.
