USA: Indian River Inlet Beach Replenishment Moves Ahead

Indian River Inlet Beach Replenishment Moves Ahead

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers continues to make progress on the north shore of the Indian River Inlet in Delaware.

The Army Corps is pumping approximately half a million cubic yards of sand onto the north shore as part of Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts.

The beach nourishment project involves dredging more than 500,000 cubic yards from in and around the inlet and pumping it onto the beach.

Officials hope to complete the project by late September, about two months before the official end of hurricane season.
