USA: Doctors Pass Dredging Receives Approval

Doctors Pass Dredging Receives Approval

The contract for dredging Doctors Pass by Orion Marine Construction, Inc. for approximately $733,000 received Board of County Commissioners’ approval yesterday.

Orion’s bid was the lowest qualified response to a request for bids that netted three responses on Aug. 30. Orion Marine, Inc. has successfully dredged Doctors Pass during two prior renourishment projects.

The current project includes dredging approximately 38,000 cubic yards of beach quality sand from Doctors Pass and placing it along the beach to promote tourism. Money for the project is allocated from Tourist Development Tax Beach Renourishment Funds.

The project is expected to start in October and be completed in November.
