DEQ: Water Quality Improvement Grants Available (USA)
The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking grant applications for water quality projects that restore and protect Michigan’s wetlands, lakes and streams.
About $2.6 million from state and federal funding is available, and units of government, nonprofit organizations and universities are eligible to apply.
The funding opportunities include:
• Federal Clean Water Act, Section 319: About $2.1 million is available to implement priority recommendations of watershed management plans previously approved by the DEQ;
• Clean Michigan Initiative – Nonpoint Source Pollution Control Grants: About $500,000 is available to fund the installation of best management practices in critical areas identified in watershed management plans approved by the DEQ.
Proposals for either project must include a minimum 25 percent local match.
Notices of Intent are due Aug. 20, and full applications from invited entities are due Oct. 17.
