USA: Officials to Discuss St. Lucie River Restoration Goals
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has invited local governments, scientists, environmentalists, agricultural producers and other interested parties to a meeting to discuss the status of the restoration plan covering the St. Lucie River and Estuary.
At this meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, August 13, 2014, in Stuart, Florida, DEP staff will provide a progress report concerning the first year of restoration and discuss the current status of the restoration plan.
Representatives from Martin County and the city of Stuart will review projects they have implemented in the last year and their achievements.
The St. Lucie River and Estuary basin is located in southeast Florida in Martin, St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties. The St. Lucie Estuary is a major tributary to the Southern Indian River Lagoon.
