Augustine Beach Boat Ramp to Open for Labor Day Weekend

The Augustine Beach Boat Ramp near Port Penn and adjacent intertidal beach located on the south side of the existing groin, which has been closed for maintenance dredging of the boat ramp access channel, will be open for the long Labor Day weekend.

The boat ramp, closed Monday through Thursday each week since Aug. 4, will be temporarily open for the long Labor Day weekend from 5 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 28, until 8 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 2, DNREC’s Division of Fish and Wildlife announced.

Following the holiday weekend, the Augustine Beach Boat Ramp will continue to close from 8 a.m. on Mondays until 5 p.m. on Thursdays, reopening from 5 p.m. each Thursday until 8 a.m. each Monday.

Weather permitting, the project is expected to be complete, with full access restored, on or about Sept. 18.

The Augustine Beach ramp parking lot will remain open for the duration of the dredging project.

Boaters who regularly use the Augustine Beach Boat Ramp may opt to use the Fort DuPont Boat Ramp, located approximately 5 miles north in Delaware City.
