The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has allocated approx. $2.2 million to undertake dredging project at the newly-expanded portion of the Port of Zamboanga wharf.
With the depth of only 2.4 meters, the newly-expanded area of the wharf is not able to accommodate large vessels. Because of this, PPA has decided to dredge the place to a depth of 11 meters.
According to the Port Manager, Eng’r. Liberto Dela Rosa, “the dredging project would cover an area of more than 170 meters wide.”
This dredging project, with the duration of 225 days, is expected to begin by December this year.
