GLDD Best Bidder for Ocean City Replenishment Project

Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Co. was announced as the lowest bidder for the Ocean City Southend Beach Replenishment project, according to the Ocean City Gazette.

According to project manager Dwight Pakan of the Army Corp’s Philadelphia District, overseeing the project, bids were opened Friday, October 10th and the low bidder was Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Co. of Oak Brook, Ill. for a base bid amount of approximately $58 million.

The project area extends approximately 16 miles from Great Egg Harbor Inlet to Townsends Inlet, and includes the municipalities of Ocean City, Upper Township, and Sea Isle City. The project costs, funded by the Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Appropriations Act 2013, will be split by federal government at 65 percent and the state and local government at 35 percent.

Ocean City Southend Beach Replenishment contract is expected to be awarded in early November.
