Broughty Ferry Coastal Protection Resumes

Business & Finance

Work on a third phase of coastal protection works has started at Broughty Ferry Esplanade.

The £1m contract, awarded to Tayside Contracts will see the construction of a rock armor revetment at Broughty Ferry Esplanade from the Glass Pavilion to Bridge Street.

Will Dawson, convener of Dundee City Council’s city development committee, said: “This work is needed to provide coastal protection and flood protection after significant quantities of the sand dunes were eroded. Access to and along the beach will generally be maintained throughout the works, however, the public are asked to take care in the vicinity.”

The work to preserve the coastal environment is expected to be completed by the end of September.
