Murray Mouth Dredging Project in Final Phase

Dredging project at the Murray Mouth, which is aimed to maintain connectivity (exchange of water) between the river and the Southern Ocean, is just a few weeks away from being officially finished.

Dredges are currently operating in the Tauwitchere and Goolwa Channels. So far, a total of approximately 503,000 cubic meters of sand had been removed from the area.

Routine monitoring has confirmed an improvement in the condition of both channels as a result of the dredging operations.

The project began on January 9th 2015 and is on track for completion by the end of this June.
