Picture of the Day: Fernao de Magalhaes in Suez

Jan De Nul‬ Group, together with other members of the ‪Challenge Consortium‬ (NMDC, Boskalis and Van Oord), is putting final touches on the New Suez Canal project.

By Friday, July 24th, the crews working on the new waterway will complete dredging works on the canal, after which the experimental operations will begin.

The company has just released a photo of its CSD Fernao de Magalhaes, working together with CSD Artemis of the Consortium partner Van Oord.

The Fernao de Magalhaes is one of the 7 cutter suction dredgers of Jan De Nul Group working on the New Suez Canal Project in Egypt.

By the end of the project, the 24 vessels of the Consortium, cutters and trailers, will have dredged a total of approximately 200 million m³ of soil, ranging from sand, stiff clay to harder limestone.
