Exhibition on Starcross-Cockwood Scheme

The Environment Agency is proposing a tidal defense scheme for Starcross and Cockwood on the Exe Estuary in Devon to reduce flood risk.

The proposed scheme is estimated to reduce flood risk to over 600 residential and commercial properties.

Currently, the Agency is at the project appraisal stage, meaning that they need to make their case internally to acquire funding for the scheme. It has also started discussions with community representatives, parish councils, government consenting bodies and landowners.

Project timings are as follows:

  • 16 October 2015: public exhibition from 12 noon to 8pm at the Starcross Pavilion, Generals Lane, Starcross, EX6 8QU;
  • 2016: detailed design stage;
  • 2017/2018: commence construction.
