ESCP to Develop Portchester to Paulsgrove Coastal Defenses

Business & Finance

The Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership (ESCP) together with its partners is working to develop the Portchester to Paulsgrove coastal defense scheme.

The scheme, aimed to reduce the risk of flooding and erosion from the sea for the next 100 years, will cover 2.4km of coastline along Portsmouth Harbor from Portchester Castle, along the A27 to Paulsgrove.

ESCP is running the project on behalf of Fareham Borough Council and Portsmouth City Council.

The environmental and engineering consultant CH2M Hill has been appointed to support the project design.

The project team will be working with the local community over the coming year to develop the coastal defense options. This will include holding some public drop-in exhibitions where public will have the opportunity to view and comment on the plans as they evolve.

It is expected that the detailed design stage will begin in winter 2016 with the construction stage programmed at the earliest to start in April 2018.
