Hopper Dredger Sommers Completes Sea Trials

Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard has completed sea trials of the trailing suction hopper dredger ‘Sommers’, the lead vessel of the TSHD 1000 series built for the FSUE “Rosmorport”.

The Sommers, named after the island in the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland, was launched in January 2016. Having undergone the mooring and sea trials the vessel is being prepared for the delivery.

The second ship named Kronshlot will be launched next week, June 8th, and the construction of the third vessel that will bear the name of Kadosh is in full swing at the moment.

Krasnoye Sormovo and Rosmorport signed the contract for the construction of three TSHD’s back in 2014. If all goes according to schedule, the shipbuilder will deliver all the three vessels by the end of 2016.

The three TSHDs, all to be equipped with the necessary equipment suitable for the climatic conditions of the region, will be stationed at seaports of Ust-Luga, Big Port St. Petersburg and Port of Tuapse.
