Leekbrook Flood Scheme on Display

The Environment Agency is inviting local residents and businesses to discuss plans to help reduce the risk of flooding in Leekbrook area.

The area is at risk of flooding from the River Churnet and Leek Brook which responds very quickly to heavy or excessive rainfall, often without warning.

EA is in the process of looking at options for improving the existing flood defenses and will talk to the community about how this could help reduce the risk of flooding for properties in the area, and hear their views.

Will Groves, Environment Agency Flood Risk Adviser, said: “We know this area can flood quickly, leaving little time for the community to respond. This drop-in is a great opportunity for residents and businesses to find out about our scheme and the steps they can take to be better prepared.

The drop-in will be held on Wednesday, 12 October, from  4pm to 7pm at the Travellers Rest Public House.
