MV RollDock Storm Completes Job for Van Oord
Van Oord, a Dutch company that specializes in dredging and land reclamation, recently awarded a contract to RollDock Shipping B.V. for the transportation of a backhoe dredger, a water injection dredger and auxiliary equipment.
“Both dredgers were loaded and discharged by our “Float in-Float out” method while the auxiliary equipment was lifted onboard,” RollDock said in the announcement.
“This transport was executed by our MV RollDock Storm.”
The floating cargo had to be discharged at two different locations.
To prevent floating of the backhoe dredger, which had to be discharged at the second discharging location, the hatch covers were used as artificial cribbing.
The RollDock vessels have 3 methods of loading and discharging; roll-on roll-off, float-in float out and lift-on lift-off.
