VIDEO of the Scheldt River Launching Ceremony

Royal IHC has just released a video of the launching ceremony of DEME’s 7.950m³ LNG-powered trailing suction hopper dredger, the Scheldt River.

The video also shows the construction process and installation of the LNG tank for this dual fuel dredger.

The Scheldt River, which was launched on 14 January at IHC’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, is the second Royal IHC-built TSHD capable of operating on LNG.

The first one, the 3.500m³ TSHD Minerva, was launched on December 3rd 2016 at Royal IHC’s shipyard in Kinderdijk.

These dual fuel (diesel and LNG) dredgers, powered by Wartsila engines, have a ‘Green Passport’ and a ‘Clean Design’ notation, complying and exceeding with the strictest international emission requirements.
