Deepening Works at Rauma Chemical Quay 2 Completed

The Port of Rauma said in their latest release that the renovation and deepening works on the Chemical Quay 2 are now completed.

This development project, conducted by the Finnish marine offshore and inland water construction company – WASA Dredging, included a significant amount of dredging work in the quay and fairway areas.

“Thanks to the deeper channel and extended quays, the port will be able to accommodate larger vessels, whereby transport efficiency of the export and import industry is enhanced and transport emissions are reduced,” said Hannu Asumalahti, Managing Director of Port of Rauma Ltd.

The new maximum guaranteed depth of the Chemical Quay 2 is 8.85 meters and the maximum allowed draught to the quay given by the port authority is 8.2 meters, said the port.

According to the official announcement, the draughts of Laitsaari Quays 15 and 16 have also been remeasured. The new maximum guaranteed depth of the quays is 8.85 meters and the maximum allowed draught to the quays given by the authority is 8.2 meters.
