The Last Stage of Buxton Beach Works

With a favorable weather forecast expected for this week, Weeks Marine will once again deploy both dredges, RN Weeks and Magdalen, onsite to work on the Buxton Beach Nourishment project.

According to the company, as of Wednesday, January 17, about 77% of the project’s sand had been placed on the beach.

Weeks Marine also announced that approximately 600,000 cubic yards of additional material needs to be delivered on the beach before project completion.

The company’s new hopper dredge Magdelen arrived in Buxton on Tuesday, January 9, to speed up this nourishment scheme.

Currently, work is moving south from the new subline to tie in with the completed section of beach to the south, near the village of Buxton. Once completed, work will move north from the current landing point to the project’s northern boundary.
