Eden Breakwater Project Moves Along

Jointly funded by the Australian Government, New South Wales Government and Bega Valley Shire Council, the $44 million Eden Breakwater Wharf Extension Project is progressing according to the schedule.

The NSW Government reported recently that under the stage one, the installation of the scour protection is continuing well and is on track to be completed by the end of February. All of the scour protection mattresses have been fabricated with a total of 172 to be laid on the seabed.

Waterway Constructions, which has been awarded contract for the stage two of the project, has already started works on the installation of marine structures. This includes preparing construction and environmental management plans required under the project’s infrastructure approvals, and bringing plant and equipment to the worksite at the Wharf.

NSW also reported that for the duration of the stage two, construction vehicles travelling to and from the Breakwater Wharf will use Mitchell, Calle Calle, Chandos, Barclay, Wirriga, Museum, Imlay and Weecoon Streets, and Albert Terrace with commercial and recreational users still to have access to the Port of Eden excluding the Breakwater Wharf worksite.
