CHEC Wins Chornomorsk Port Dredging Contract

China Harbor Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC) has been awarded two lots of the Chornomorsk sea port dredging project.

The combined value of the two dredging contracts is approximately $15.3 million, reported yesterday Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration (USPA).

The subject of the first lot is the deepening of the approach sea channel to the port of Chornomorsk, and the second is for the dredging works in the operational area of the 1st batch of Sukhoi estuary of the port,” USPA said.

Due to the high competition between companies during the auction, the company managed to get the most attractive offers and save more than $40 million in general,” said Raivis Vezkagans, head of the Sea Ports Authority. “As China Harbor Engineering Company Ltd has already shown itself to be a reliable partner within the framework of the project of deepening in the Yuzhny port, we expect the same qualitative and responsible approach to the project of dredging in the port of Chornomorsk.”

Four companies, including China Harbor Engineering company Ltd., LTD Novadeal, Jan De Nul NV, Van Oord Dredging and Marine BV, took part in the tendering process.
