The New Jersey Department of of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has announced that the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium’s State of the Shore event will take place tomorrow, May 24, at McLoone’s Supper Club in Asbury Park, Monmouth County.

During the event, NJDEP Acting Commissioner, Catherine R. McCabe, will provide updates on beach water quality and the state’s commitment to protecting coastal resources.

The State of the Shore program is an annual event, kicking off the Memorial Day weekend’s unofficial start to the summer beach season.

Other scheduled speakers include Claire Antonucci, Executive Director of the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium, and Dr. Jon K. Miller, a research associate professor at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken.

Dr. Miller is also a coastal processes specialist for the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium Extension Program.
