Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Shri Nitin Gadkari, is set to initiate the development of 300 km long river route from Hajipur to Triveni Ghat, Government of India’s Press Information Bureau reports.

According to their official announcement, this capital development scheme will include $1.8 million dredging works on the Gandak River.

This project is aimed to help generating more cargo transport capacity in the next five years, PIB said.

Under the plan, the RO-RO terminals at Vaishali, Kalyanpur, Betia and Bagaha will be established.

The project is set to provide cargo connectivity from River Ganga and transport facility up to Nepal by waterway.

The initiation ceremony will take pace tomorrow, PIB informs.
