According to the report, during the start-up phases, Jan De Nul will focus on improving the port access by gradually deepening the existing navigation channel.

This will allow vessels with increasing draft to call into Payra Port, thereby attracting more traffic.

JDN also added that three trailing suction hopper dredgers have been mobilized and have commenced work already: the Bougainville, Diogo Cão and Tristão da Cunha.

The Diogo Cão and Tristão da Cunha are two of the five ultra-low emission hopper dredgers which have been designed in-house.

In a world of climate change, and overall environmental consciousness, Jan De Nul Group has chosen to equip its latest generation of dredging vessels with an ingenious system of filtering to actually remove or eliminate toxic substance from exhaust gases.
