East Rockaway to Rockaway Inlet, and Jamaica Bay works VIDEO update

Construction works on the East Rockaway Inlet to Rockaway Inlet and Jamaica Bay project are progressing along nicely, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District latest update.

In general, the project includes construction of nature based and structural features on the Jamaica Bay shoreline. The main aim of the project is to address coastal storm surge flooding in the Rockaways.

A seawall, as well as new and extended groins with beach restoration will be constructed along the Atlantic Ocean shorefront.

The Atlantic Coast of New York East Rockaway Inlet to Rockaway Inlet and Jamaica Bay project comes as a partnership between the Army Corps and the non-Federal Sponsor, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and in cooperation with New York City.
